Our Mission

The Mission of the Church of St. Mary is to provide a Catholic environment that fosters a warm Christian atmosphere of welcome and prayer for all generations.

We serve one another in our community through the Sacraments, education and stewardship. This enables all to grow in their relationship with God, our parish, and the surrounding communities.

                                       LETTER TO PARISHIONERS

Two months ago I ordered Easter cards with a picture of Jesus Christ rescuing the trapped souls of just men and women in hell who died before His sacrifice on the cross on one side. On the flip side was the printed schedule of the principle liturgies of Holy Week. Now the entire schedule for Holy Week that was printed back in January must be altered. Oh well, I still like the picture.

Holy Week is the highlight of the Christian year. It is the centerpiece of all of our worship of our Savior Jesus Christ. The calculations by which the date of Easter (the cumulation of Holy Week) is set each year cannot be changed since the date of Easter is directly tied to the ancient feast of Passover. The celebration of Easter cannot be be delayed or moved to a more convenient date. Obviously this year is a major problem since we cannot celebrate the great liturgies of Holy Week with all of you present in the church due to the current situation.

Based upon the decisions of the Holy See and our Apostolic Administrator I have revised the schedule for Holy Week. There are two basic guidelines that must be followed:

  •  No more than ten persons can be present in the church. Therefore, I cannot allow even a small number of parishioners to be present in the congregation.
  • The directives from the Holy See and Apostolic Administrator in regard to the liturgy must be followed.

Palm Sunday

  • Mass will be celebrated at 8:30 AM at St. Mary and 10:30 AM at St. Liborius.
  • There will be no distribution os palms before or after Mass. Palms will be blessed during the Masses and distributed at a future date when the people can be present at Mass.

Holy Thursday

  • Mass at 7:00 PM at St. Liborius

Good Friday

  • Service at 3:00 PM at St. Liborius

Easter Vigil

  • There will be no blessing of Easter food this year.
  • Mass at 8:00 PM at St. Liborius

Easter Sunday

  • Mass at 8:30 AM at St. Mary and 10:30 AM at St. Liborius

I will be recording the Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter Vigil liturgies. If a way is found to livestream the liturgies, we will provide you with the links to view the liturgy as it happens. If livestreaming proves unworkable the liturgies will be recorded and posted to the parish websites.

It is important that the liturgies of Holy Week are celebrated in our parishes even though the vast majority of you cannot be physically present. Even though you cannot be present for these liturgies I ask you to treat Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter Sunday as Holy Days and spend time in prayer and celebration with your families at home.
