Mission Statement

            St. Mary Catholic School of Park Forest, Illinois, a school of choice, is committed to providing an environment of Christian values, intellectual stimulation, self respect, social growth, family life, and a sense of community.
            This is accomplished through the cooperation of St. Mary staff, parents and parish.

About Our School

            St. Mary School is part of the Joliet Diocese and is accredited by the State of Illinois

           Our School consists of a dedicated and experienced staff that challenge the students to strive for excellence in their academic endeavors as well as their daily activities.

          St. Mary School works closely with the parish.  Our student government raises money, food, and clothing annually to help the needy.

         St. Mary School serves the communities of Park Forest, Crete, Monee, University Park, Chicago Heights, Peotone, Richton Park, and Frankfort.

         St. Mary prides itself in providing a quality education and faith development.  A small school of approximately 200 students, St. Mary offers a safe environment in a charming, forest preserve setting.

School Times:

All Grades: 7:30 a.m. - 2:05 p.m.

After School Care Program:  2:05 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.

 

Academic Excellence

  • Our high academic standards result in test scores well above the National Average.

  • St. Mary School provides a safe environment that allows each child to reach their full potential.

  • The full compliment of subjects required by the Illinois State Code is included in the curriculum:
    Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, Music, Art, Physical Education, and Technology.

  • Special attention is also given to students with specific needs through individual tutoring with teachers' aides and volunteers.

  • A Computer Program that offers opportunities for computer literacy and assisted instruction.  Our state of the art computer lab and media resource center provides internet access, and up to date software, which enables out students to have a wide range of information at their finger tips.  Additional computers located in the classroom integrates technology with the various curriculums.

  • Dana Palm Pilots were integrated into the fifth grade Social Studies Program over the last 2 years through a grant called, "Bridging the Disconnects".

  • Great emphasis is placed on providing students with a strong foundation in the area of basic skills.

  • Homework and the development of good study skills are essential to our academic program.

  • Curriculum Programs are re-evaluated annually to update textbooks and to ensure the students' needs are being met.

  • Dedicated, caring teachers make learning fun.

  • A small classroom size allows more one-on-one time with the students.

  • Musical performances which include singing, dancing, acting and set design.

  • A strong Catholic identity which includes weekly Mass, prayer services, and student performances of the Living Rosary and Stations of the Cross.

  • An Athletic Association that offers basketball, volleyball and soccer.

  • An After School Care Program.
